LIZ JONES
SINGER SONGWRITER
A nomadic and restless woman, with an instinctive urge to deliver ideas through songs on a stage. Writing fuelled by a topsy turvy life, deeply wry humour and lots to say about the tangible and human experience.
After a few years of touring both solo and in various line ups, Liz has carved a path independently in the roots music scenes, liked by folk crowds for her storytelling, by the blues clubs for a voice that wails like a rusty old harmonica, by the seekers of new music for being defiantly real life.
Me (Liz), I dislike traditional Bios.
I'm as many years old as you are, will be, or have been.
I don't like labels.
Genre tags are a compromise.
I'm from the work room where I first fell in love.
I am from the stair where I waved goodbye.
I am from the river underneath the starts of the Patagonian sky.
I am from the day my mother cried.
“Londoner Liz” – The Londoners disown me by accent
“Cumbrian Lass” – The Cumbrians disown me by birthplace
“Cumbrian come Scot” – Neither accept this
“Northerner” – Hell Yeah!, but I’m a Southerner up here
“Southerner” – Hell Yeah!, but I’m a Northerner down there
“Highlands Troubadour” – Personal favourite none-sense
“Edinburgh Lassie” – Home is home
“Scottish Lassie” – Surrounded by them, joined the pack
Title track from the Debut Solo project Bounty (video below). An album made thorough lockdown years, a collection of songs written in the decade running up to 2020.
” … From the R&B brilliance of “Accused” to the soft intimacy of “Nazareth,” Jones shows off a vocal range (and an ability to properly apply it) that many singer-songwriters reach for… Bounty is both powerful and versatile … “
Country Queer [Bounty 2022 Solo Album]
“… the songs have all come from a voice that has lived a full life and has stories to tell, that we can all relate to in one way or another… Narcissist is just simply different subject matter from what I may ever have heard…”

Like a lot of independent musicians, Patreon is now an important part of my income. A humbling part of the music life, where I can be honest about my successes and pot holes, discuss things best left off social media. I run mine with no particular format or routine, like a kind of community group with benefits! I am told I share a lot more there than most. Confession - I enjoy it more because it's NOT public!
People have joined for all sorts of reasons, but the main ones are to hear brand new ideas and songs, free stuff, help out with band costs (Broken Windows), and to support my side hustle as a voluntary live music event wrangler.
Northern Ireland!
Gigs in Northern Ireland in November 2025 to be announced very soon!
Because you only need to open the emails when you're in the mood for music news. 😎 And it's free for both you and me.
